Sarah is a patient at the Boston Children's Cerebral Palsy Program where I had the honor and privilege of being the nurse for many years. Meeting her and getting to know her was a highlight of my nursing practice. With a light in her eyes and her incredible humor, I found a young woman with knowledge and intellect who despite physical challenges was able to confront all and any turns in her life. She was never afraid to ask questions of any medical staff and they in turn were able to learn from her as they joined in her care. She was a popular speaker at a Cerebral Palsy Conference hosted by Boston Children's. Her philosophy of zeroing in on one's abilities and not disabilities is one we share. She is positive, professional, and able to assist others with physical and medical issues. I would encourage patients, families, caregivers and medical providers to get in touch with Sarah for her thoughtful input on concerns and questions.

Sarah is an invaluable resource because, unlike parents and medical professionals, she is actually living with cerebral palsy, not studying it or treating it. Most of the available resources on disability are published by therapists, doctors, or parents, and while their contributions are valuable, they are also lacking - parents and doctors can't truly grasp all the ins and outs of something they've never experienced. As a mom to a daughter with cerebral palsy, I find myself turning to Sarah again and again for questions and advice - she helps me get into the head of my daughter so I can support her in the way that she needs it, and not in the ways that she doesn't.

Sarah is one of the most intelligent people I've met online. She's an exceptional writer who's always got something smart and thoughtful to say, and her warmth, empathy and intuitiveness shine through, too. She also has the gift of positivity; as the mother of a child with cerebral palsy, I deeply appreciate her optimism. She's not overly sunny, just naturally so, with a good dose of reality.

As a mom to young twins with CP, my online friends with blogs have become my life line for support. While I often turn to other moms because they understand what I'm going through, they aren't able to tell me what my sons are experiencing. Getting to know Sarah through her blog, I have seen that despite the challenges she has faced she is a thoughtful, wise, intelligent young woman with an incredibly bright future ahead of her. Sarah's insights have shown me that my sons have every ability to live a rich and fulfilling life.
